Applied Research and Development Building,
Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff
L.E.E.D. Platinum Certification
Located at a prominent corner on the west edge of campus, this building expresses the University’s leadership in environmental stewardship. Designed by the team of Hopkins Architects (United Kingdom), Ove Arup Partners (London and San Francisco) and BWS Architects, the ARD Building provides offices and laboratories for several university and governmental organizations concerned with environmental issues. It also aspires to be a LEED Platinum Building, making it one of a handful in the world seeking that level of sustainability. In 2005 the project received an Acknowledgment Prize for sustainable design from the prestigious Holcim Foundation.
